Legion Was Here face creation is a deduction, not a cosmetic sandbox: after you finish reading a dossier, you enter the operating room and rebuild the target's face from evidence, and every slider you move is a claim about what that person actually looks like. Get the evidence right first and the face follows; move the sliders while you are still reading and you will lock in whatever you guessed.

What The Legion Was Here Face Creation Screen Gives You
The creator exposes more than 900 million possible combinations across age, hairstyle, nose shape and width, eye colour, eye shape and further facial-structure features. That number is not the puzzle — the puzzle is that the dossier only states some of those features, states others indirectly, and contradicts itself on purpose in a few places.
Because the choices are commitments, a wrong pick is not a cosmetic mismatch you can shrug off: it raises suspicion during the mission and costs credibility before the conversation even starts.
Set The Face In This Order
Read the dossier twice, then write your notes on Legion's left hand.
The file is not reopened during the mission, so the hand is your only copy.
Hair first.
Match the style the documents describe in words; an illustration's hairstyle is an interpretation.
Eye colour second.
Use a direct description if one exists. If not, use an indirect signal — the shade of a crayon, the colour of a garment — as the colour and not as a hint about hair.
Nose shape and width from the clearest photograph you have.
Prefer a photograph over a drawing, and prefer the photograph that is least cropped.
Set age as a range rather than a single number,
using whatever the biography implies.
Run a consistency pass:
every slider should have a document behind it, and no single document should have outvoted three that agree.

How To Read Those Numbers
Each trait has a ring of options on the vitals screen, and the guide numbers them clockwise with the top as 1 — the goatee, for instance, is number 6 and is called Deftones. Age is the open-ended one: Young is roughly 18 to 30, Mature is the thirties and forties, and Senior is 50 and up.
One caveat worth knowing before you spend a run on it: Ralf's ear trait is currently broken in The Big Day. The intended answer is number 4, the pierced Circus Performer, but the game is only accepting number 1, normal size, Size M. It is a reported bug with its own pinned Steam thread, and the recipe table above already uses the value that works.
The recipes are transcribed from the player-made Legion Was Here guide on Steam and cross-checked against the Chinese puzzle-flow guide.
Red Herrings Will Pull You Off The Right Face
False clues are part of the design rather than a flaw, and they are usually the most eye-catching item in the file: a colourful drawing, a detail that contradicts everything else, an object that points somewhere that does not fit. The response is not to ignore unusual clues — it is to require agreement before you act on one.
The same applies to a plausible-looking face. The file may support a general impression of the target, and the templates that fit that impression are not evidence. Only stated traits belong in the creator.
When The Face Is Not Enough
A near-perfect face still fails the mission if the biographical questioning goes badly, because credibility is judged on both halves. Treat the operating room as the first of two stages rather than the win condition: finish the face, then check that your hand notes still cover the facts you will be asked about. How the interview phase scores you covers what those questions ask and how the credibility score reacts.
