The Legion Was Here demo walkthrough is worth playing before the full game: the free demo covers the tutorial plus one complete mission, and it uses the same face creator and the same multiple-choice interview as the paid campaign. Practising the loop here means the first contract in the full game is not your first look at any of the systems.

The Legion Was Here Demo Walkthrough In Order

Legion goes undercover in a clown costume with a Neptunian cover story, and a plan to blow up Mount Rushmore sits behind the job. The people doing the questioning are not human, and the interview opens with their loyalty questions rather than anything about Earth.

The whole mission comes down to four moves:

  1. Read the dossier twice and write the deduced traits on Legion's left hand.
  2. Build the face in the operating room from those notes, not from preference.
  3. Answer the interview from the hand notes, including the sheriff's interruption.
  4. Replay after a failure with the biographical facts the failed attempt exposed.

Reading The Demo Dossier Twice

The demo's visual references are deliberately thin: a partial photograph that shows only the mouth, ear and chin, and a childlike drawing done in blue crayon. That is enough to deduce a set of traits, and the useful ones are the ones the dossier states rather than illustrates.

Read the file twice before touching a slider, then write the deduced features on your hand. The routine that works is to lock onto the textual evidence — the demo run comes down to curly hair, green eyes and a narrow nose — and to treat the drawing as the child's interpretation of the person rather than as evidence. The shade of a crayon is a hint that someone chose that colour for a reason, not proof that Legion's hair is blue. In a real campaign the dossier is much larger and the same discipline applies; the dossier guide sets out how to sort appearance cues from biographical ones.

Building Legion's Face

Once the notes are on your hand, sculpt the corresponding face in the operating room: hair first, then eye colour, then the nose and its width from the only clear photograph you have, then an age range rather than a single number. Stop and re-read your hand notes against the sliders before you enter the mission conversation.

The demo's creator is the full game's creator, including the same size of the combination space and the same habit of planting false clues. How to build a face from evidence covers the order that keeps a planted clue from overriding three agreeing ones.

Surviving The Interview

The Neptunians ask their loyalty questions first. Plan for an interruption you were not preparing for: a human sheriff can turn up mid-interview and demand proof that you are human rather than alien, which is a different question set from anything in the dossier.

Expect the first attempt to end in failure. A blown cover in the demo is usually a missing biographical fact on your hand rather than a bad face, and the fix is to restart with a fuller crib sheet and the same face. How the interview phase works covers how questions are generated from dossier details and how the credibility score reacts to each answer.

After You Clear The Demo

The demo does not include any of the six campaign missions — Become Patrick, London Undercover, Neptune's Guest, The Big Day, Mafia Blues and Legion: Origins are all in the full game. Every one of them repeats the same three phases against a longer dossier, and the strategies that carry over are the same ones you practise here: notes first, sliders second, consistency check third. The full campaign walkthrough lays out that loop and what changes between runs.
